Maestro Knows Monday

February 8th, 2010

In today’s episode, Maestro received another pair of Nike Air Yeezys before the official hyped release. Being the down-to-earth sneakerhead he is, Maestro takes the Black/Pink demons around town with MJ to skate in ‘em; and to scuff them up. Personally (like I said before), I would never do physical activity in Yeezys haha.

This episode highlights an unique characteristic within Levi; who, while acknowledging the significance of the Yeezy, doesn’t hesitate to wear a shoe[.. tear a shoe].

Bern Snowboarding Helmets

February 4th, 2010

Bern is taking the snowboarding world by storm with their innovative, yet stylish, helmet designs. The designs of their helmets provide a fashionable approach with the technical aspects you may be looking for. The “Baker” was the first helmet to provide a functional visor lid, while the “Watts” is the world’s first vented visor lid. The “Watts” is available as a hard-hat with multiple impact Brock Foam or a helmet with EPS Foam. By incorporating a visor, Bern helmets create a better fit and prevent snow from sitting on top of a rider’s goggles.

Both models are available at Outtabounds in all colorways.

You’ll definitely see some of it come Spring at Outtabounds.

To be honest our Spring 2010 photoshoot was a last minute idea that came from marketing and design. We wanted to give the consumer an emotional tie by shooting on location with vivid scenery and cutting edge photography. Spring 2010 was shot in Yosemite National Park. Destination photography is the direction we will be taking moving forward. We rented an R.V. and loaded up it up with people, food and equipment and drove all night until the sun came up. We had no idea what to expect but knew we were going somewhere beautiful and unexplored. Beautiful is an understatement and creativity was in full bloom. We shot skate team riders Rob Gonzalez, Karl Watson and Kelly Hart and also up and coming artist Mike Posner. It took one day to scout locations and the rest we freestyled. We literally stumbled upon some of mother natures finest. This new direction will give L-R-G a more mature feeling and bring personality and life to our clothing. We think you’ll agree how refined, polished and distinguished the Spring 2010 line looks. We are forever young at heart and our concept will always remain the same. We hope you enjoy!

HUF: American Pastime

February 3rd, 2010

huf-hypebeast-feature-1

Hypebeast is currently featuring a HUF interview with creator Keith Hufnagel and designer Hanni El Khatib.

How happy are you with Spring/Summer 2010? What are some of your favorite pieces in the collection?

I feel S/S came out very well. I feel like our seasons keep on getting better and better. For me, my favorite items are the Dot Check shirt, college jacket and our selvedge denim. Three classic pieces for Spring.

How much of a hand did you have in the design process, seeing as your surely busy running the business side of things?

I always help out and put my thoughts in. I do let Hanni do his thing though. He is the designer and we are on the same page as far as the direction of the brand is concerned.

In your eyes, how much has HUF progressed since the cut-and-sew collection first began?

We have progressed 100%. We used to only have a few cut-and-sew pieces, now we have a full range.

You can go here to read the rest

Bonus:

Keith Hufnagel interviewed by Daichi Ito. Best interviewer in the business; in the game!!!

New Quiksilver Women apparel is available at Momentum 8th Street

“…designed with a sense of posh lavishness…”

Quiksilver Women is probably something you’ll see Quiksilver doing completely different. Being fashion-driven, it’s a step in new a direction, a good direction. The “Featured Women” in the pictures are just a few girls who personify Quiksilver Women and the line’s overall ideology. The collection is equal parts rebellious and refined. With a range of knits, woven tops, dresses and denim, the offerings run the gamut of tomboy chic styles to ladylike looks.

Check out the Quiksilver Women Blog here.  Be sure to look at the  Quiksilver Woman of the Week blog posts.

DOWNLOAD: Future/Street Drug/Sounds by Dom Kennedy

Extremely late but it is still Tuesday! You might have heard some of his work in the Maestro episode yesterday. To be honest I’m pretty awful at descriptions and so I’ll just say this: Dom Kennedy is LA rap! I had the best time during Spring/Summer ‘09 listening to this album, I hope you enjoy it too. From The Westside, With Love, Best After Bobby and 25th Hour are coming later than sooner!

Here’s some music videos from the project and Dom in general:
