The news of Eric Koston moving to Nike SB had shook the skatebord world a while back and skateboarders and sneaker heads were eager to check the next move from Nike SB and Koston. Here is a teaser and an interview with Koston as he explains his thoughts on Nike sneakers and some insight into upcoming black/gumsole Dunk Hi that he has been testing. For skateboarders, it is good to see that they have been trying to produce even stickier outsole specifically for skating. Also Koston explains the motivation behind the sneaker box campaign that Nike SB have been putting out.
If your ever feeling artistic, come check out Kid Robot’s DIYs (do-it-yourself). The premise is to take these blank toys and draw your own personalized design on it. Whatever you want, you can do it yourself. They’re basically 4-inches of fun:
“Made from super smooth white vinyl and all ready for drawing, scribbling, piercing, painting and posing”
They all come with their own mystery accessory, like a $1, 000, 000 cheque (kidding, but something on that magnitude), its kind of like the Golden Tickets in Charlie & The Chocolate Factory.
Available at Momentum 8th Street.

“The Match Classic for those of you who are unfamiliar, was one of the first tennis shoes that Nike ever released and was retroed earlier this year when Nike Sporstwear collaborated with Hiroshi Fujiwara of fragment design and Jun Takahashi of UNDERCOVER.”
This time around Fujiwara and Takahashi’s influences are absent and the midsole designs are gone. Instead of being a collaberation shoe, the Nike Match Classic has been retroed; the midsoles are supposed to look a bit used (as you can see). The shoe itself is refreshing, it branches off from the traditional Nike swoosh on the side, and replaces it with a significantly smaller one. All three colorways (Brown, Black, Red) have suede uppers and the overall simplicity is impressive.
In the summer of 2008, Kid Cudi released his mixtape entitled “A Kid Named Cudi” with 10 Deep. The mixtape included “Day ‘n’ Nite”, his hit single, but for most thats where his music ends. People forget that artists have more than one song and really don’t give credit to the body of work. Since 2008, Cudi has released his album, “Man On The Moon: The End Of Day”, which features Kanye West, Common, Ratatat, and MGMT (just to name a few), and has received positive reviews. The mixtape was free and for those who don’t have it.. here ya go. Our personal favorites are: The Prayer, Heaven At Nite, Man On The Moon, 50 Ways To Make A Record, and Pillow Talk.
The Rome snowboarding team just recently traveled from B.C. and headed east across Canada for a road trip. Along the way they hit up plenty of mountains and had some fun. Luckily they also filmed it for your enjoyment, here is a quick little teaser of their trip in our beautiful snow country.
For more information you can check out FuGnar’s interveiw with the road trips Filmer: John Cavan. He elaborates on the driving, the shops they visited, the mountains, and the worst/best days.
