Board Shorts

January 20th, 2010

As the Seasons cycle, so does the clothing and because of such things you’ll be looking at Spring/Summer gear really soon. Speaking of, Hurley Board Shorts have arrived at Momentum 8th Street and Momentum Marketplace. It looks like a great time for them to arrive too, we’ve been breaking hearts when asked for Board Shorts — such a hassle for vacation preparations!

Oh, and since were talking about Hurley here, The Market also just received some Hurley denim — come try some on.

Momentum 8th Street has just received some new Nike Sportswear Windbreakers for Men and Women. Unfortunately there are no pictures for you to examine and hopefully I’ll update this post. Like previous iterations, the Windbreakers are made out of a light synthetic material and stylistically feature bright vibrant colors (expect an edited update soon).

Coming Soon: Comune

January 20th, 2010

With Spring fast approaching, Comune gives us a look into what they’re about, and what you can expect once it hits our shelves. Comune is a rebellious men’s apparel collection with a focus on innovation and design. Much of the brand incorporates a darker color palette; and the pieces feature noticeable [creative] construction points (see below: Kostka jacket). While still a relatively young brand with their 1 year anniversary coming Fall 2010, Comune is on point with a good balance of bold and contemporary design.

You can expect to see Comune at Momentum/Outtabounds come Spring/Summer.

COMUNE was formed from the idea that there will always be people out there who not only embrace the rawness and imperfections of every day life but also use it to creatively push the boundaries of what’s possible in fashion, art, and music their own way, with complete disregard of the consequences. Their goal is to provide clothing that reflects this lifestyle of carefree idealism and to support the people that choose to live it.

Comune Site – Comune also boasts pretty extensive Skate and Snowboard teams

Brooklyn’s Very Own: Theophilus London.

Almost 1 year ago (January 24th) Theophilus London let This Charming Mixtape loose on the internets. It’s so hard to place him genre-wise, and you’ll understand once you download the mixtape. He uses a variety of samples for his songs and does it well. He raps and he sings, similar to KiD CuDi but not quite the same. Every song is literally different, its so cliche: he’s refreshing and interesting. Something that should always be taken into consideration is: Live Performances.

Theo kills it every time (pt.3)

he performs for a crowd, (pt.2)

ESPECIALLY if they are lame like so. (pt.1)

Maestro Knows Mondays

January 18th, 2010

Maestro and MJ spend the day with rapper friend Curt@!n$ and grab a bite to eat, drown in the ocean depths that was the Nike Air Yeezy’s hype, and visit the Nike I.D. Studio to make some of their own sneakers. Chi McBride doesn’t play games when it comes to sneakers either, they meet up with him in the Studio. And once again, LA seems to have some the best food, I mean: recommending hot dogs?

Like Maestro said: Curt@!n$’ music grabs you. The song they were listening to at the start didn’t get released until about 5 or 6 months after this episode hit the net. It’s called “Mode” which you can download HERE. The other song you hear when they are at the Nike Studio is called “Night of The Living Dope (Johnny’s Revenge)” (Download) which is off his free mixtape (potential Tape Tuesday?) The Great Adventures Of Dope Boy C: WHSL- REBEL RADIO.

Stanley Donwood, a popular UK contempary artist, and Oakley have put forth a collaborative effort:  The Stanley Donwood Artist Series Jupiter. Donwood has exhibited his art all across the glove and is renowned for creating all of Radiohead’s album artwork. The artwork on the glasses themselves is actually reminiscent of Thom Yorke’s solo project “The Eraser”, but these projects aren’t co-related.

Donwood’s initial concept for his Artist Series Oakley glasses was to create peril-sensitive sunglasses like the ones described by Douglas Adams in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. They would go completely black at the first sign of danger, saving you from having to look at anything dangerous. Of course, that was impossible. So the artwork on these limited edition frames is adapted from a Donwood piece called “London Views” which shows London being destroyed by fire and flood in a quasi-medieval style. The sunglasses come with matching box and micro bag that are also collector’s items.

JayCeeOh hits us with another mix, this time in collaboration with Fully Fitted. The theme is “Lazy Sunday” and there’s no better time to post it then now: a Sunday afternoon. Enjoy the mix; Enjoy your afternoon.

Listener’s Discretion is Advised!

A few weeks ago the Fully Fitted homies hit me up and asked if I would be down to record a mix for the Live at Home series. I had been a familiar with the series but not up to date on all of the releases. I checked it out and a bunch of my favorite DJs had already thrown down, so I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of. When I asked what type of mix I should do the instructions were what “play what you would want to listen to on a sunday afternoon at your crib.” I was feeling that vibe. I have been putting out alot of mixes recently but more on the upbeat tip in the interest of booking gigs and what not. I was pumped to throw down some classy tunes to chill out to. I didnt do my usualy style with lots of cuts and quick mixing. I let this mix breathe and am very happy with the outcome. Enjoy! – jayceeoh
