The Freshest’s podcasts are consistently played on Vancouver’s #1 radio station The Beat 94.5, and because it’s one of the biggest social hubs in Canada, Seko, and the rest of the Freshest, have become renowned all over the world. Hip- Hop, Dance, Reggae/Dancehall, Disco, and Motown are just some of the types of music you can expect from Seko. Expect a dope party when Seko comes through Scratch on Saturday.

A Banksy Film.

Exit Through the Gift Shop, the first film by renowned graffiti artist Banksy, became the hottest ticket at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival where it made its world debut. Banksy is a graffiti artist with a global reputation whose work can be seen on walls from post—hurricane New Orleans to the separation barrier on the Palestinian West Bank. Fiercely guarding his anonymity to avoid prosecution, Banksy has so far resisted all attempts to be captured on film. Exit Through the Gift Shop tells the incredible true story of how an eccentric French shop keeper turned documentary maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner with spectacular results. The film contains exclusive footage of Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Invader and many of the worlds most infamous graffiti artists at work, on walls and in interview. As Banksy describes it, Its basically the story of how one man set out to film the un—filmable. And failed.

Premieres exclusively at the Broadway Theatre on June 13th

The upcoming weekend is crammed full of good events and it sucks because we all can’t be in more than one place at a time. Scratch is presenting Eh Team and Betti Ford on (Friday) May 28th and (Saturday) May 29th respectively. Shad has his show at Amigos on (Friday) May 28th, and now the boys behind 50cupsofcoffee are having a show on (Friday) May 28th at Crazy Cactus as well.

50cupsofcoffee is a site dedicated to promoting good music, nothing is ever for download except their own mixes, and if you really need (which is pretty often) to obtain one of the bangers they post, I’m sure you’ll find a way. It’s their second event to date, and for good cause too, plus it’s ran by local boys so why not come out. Maybe Shad is sold out and Scratch is full on Friday, or maybe 50cups is full and Scratch is full, go to Shad, or maybe Shad is sold out and 50cups is full, go to Scratch — haha, you get it, Friday is jam packed.

Here’s what 50cupsofcoffee have to say about their event:

It’s the jump off! Big news, mark your calendars we just got the first jam of the summer set up! It’s going to be down at the Crazy Cactus this coming Friday, the 28th. The good news is its going to be a free event, but the great news is it is going to be a party with some purpose, we will be taking donations for Relay For Life. So if everyone could bring a donation, we can raise some serious scrilla for a great cause! Every bit counts. The party starts at 9 and the Cactus will fill up quick so coming earlier than later is always fun!

Maybe I’m not big ’cause I don’t blog or twitter /// dog I’m bitter

I still remember seeing Shad’s video, The Old Prince Still Lives At Home, and how it reminded me of U-N-I’s K.R.E.A.M.. A cool concept, but I thought of it as a quick grab at attention (for both parties). I didn’t really look past Shad’s video until strangely enough I was told he was coming to Saskatoon a few days ago. Plus yesterday, by sheer coincidence, I saw Yaa I Get It, and dude goes hard. I am definitely going to make the effort to get to know him some more. With three albums out: When This Is Over, The Old Prince and TSOL (which drops today), Shad is one of the doper Canadian rappers out. I would even go as far as saying he is on par with KOS and Drake.

This Friday (May 28th), Shad will be stopping at Amigos, as a part of his TSOL Canadian Tour, with opening act Grand Analog. I highly recommend that you be in attendance, especially if you love Hip Hop.
