With literally a handful of songs to his name (7 to be exact) and 600 friends on myspace, Gilbere Forte’ is deceivingly good. You wouldn’t expect someone with such a small catalog to be acknowledged, especially in today’s day and age of free breakthrough mixtapes (ie. Kid Cudi; 10 DEEP; Drake). Reigning from Philadelphia, Gilbere writes and produces all of his own music and is about to perform alongside the likes of Mos Def, Jay Electronica and Talib Kweli. Gilbere Forte’ is BLVCK consists of 3 songs: his first street single Black Chukkas, The Color Black and previously released I’m So AppalledFreestyle. Big things are coming up for MrForteFPC, his first video for Black Chukkas and eventually his first full length album. This Tape Tuesday is early enough in his career for you to brag to your friends: “I heard him first!”.
What is there to say about Jay Electronica? Listen to the praise given in the 6 minute intro from Just Blaze and Erykah Badu. Act 1 consists of several songs put together in one mp3 lasting about 16 minutes. ‘Nuff said. One of the Greats..
