LEXINGTON, OH (July 18, 2010) –

Michael Jordan Motorsports (MJM) maintains third place in the championship points race after completing races eleven and twelve of the 2010 AMA Pro National Guard American Superbike Championship held at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH this weekend. National Guard Jordan Suzuki‟s Jake Zemke scored a pair of sixth place finishes and 18-year-old Brett McCormick, Aaron Yates‟ replacement rider, had his best result of the season with a seventh place finish on Saturday and a fifth on Sunday.

On Saturday, National Guard Jordan Suzuki‟s Zemke ran as high as fourth before dropping back and eventually finishing sixth. Sunday, Zemke ran in fifth place until the last lap when he was passed by his Michael Jordan Motorsports teammate, McCormick. Zemke is a solid third in the championship points race heading into next weekend‟s event at Laguna Seca.

“Yesterday we killed both tires and today we killed one,” Zemke said. “By halfway today, the front tire was completely done and it was all I could do to hang on „til the end. It was definitely a frustrating weekend. Coming to Ohio, it‟s always been a good track for me. We were looking for good things here and we just never quite got there with the bike this weekend. So we‟ll come out with something a little different for Laguna and regroup and move on.”

On Sunday, McCormick started in seventh and quickly worked his way up to sixth just behind Zemke. McCormick made the pass on Zemke on the last lap, which gave him his first top five finish of the year. Saturday, Michael Jordan Motorsports‟ McCormick ran as high as sixth before settling in for a seventh place finish. McCormick sits in ninth place in the championship points race.

“I guess I got a seventh in Fontana and then a seventh yesterday,” McCormick said. “So this was the best finish when nobody crashed, nobody in front of me. I‟m definitely really happy. I had a battle with Jake (Zemke) there and that was a lot of fun. And it was finally nice to go up there and race with somebody that‟s closer to that top five and cool to learn stuff from these guys, for sure.”
During the weekend, Jake Zemke‟s National Guard Suzuki GSX-R1000 was proudly sporting the state patch of the Ohio National Guard‟s 19th Special Forces Group, whose primary mission is to train and assist foreign indigenous forces in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The corresponding National Guard state patches will be placed on Zemke‟s Suzuki for the remainder of the 2010 season.

Look for the 2010 Michael Jordan Motorsports team at their next event at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA on July 23-25, 2010.

The One of One Project

June 23rd, 2010

In hopes to raise funds for the Children’s Hosipital Foundation, One of One creator Chris Watchorn “cold called” Steve Murray (Head of Vans & Reef’s parent company: VFC) and asked for 30 pairs of shoes for this auction. Surprisingly, Steve agreed to send the shoes for Chris’ cause and that’s how it all began. Chris then reached out to various artists to paint whatever they wanted to and the results vary from quirky characters, and profound designs — all combing to create a beautiful cohesive project.

The auction begins Friday, June 25th in Winnipeg at SK8 Skate at the Forks Marketplace. For those of us who cannot attend the actual event there is also an alternative way to bid:

Begining Tuesday June 29 bids can be placed through eBay. Check back here after the 27th for links to each pair. Bids can also be made during the opening reception and via email contact. If you would like to make an inquiry about any of the artists or shoes feel free to contact us at oneofoneproject@gmail.com

Here are just a few of the designs by Phil Annand, Makeda Duyile and The Children’s Hospital Young Artists (Patients):

A few weeks ago while in Saskatoon The Gaff and I ( DJ Marvel (the Freshest, Vancouver) ) were going through some ideas at his studio. We started with the Common bass line and then chopped up the Mary Jane Girls drums. The Guru acapella seemed fit so we decided to do a little tribute. I took it back to Vancouver sequenced it, added the cuts, and made the Intro, while Gaff added some keys and got it sounding nice and crispy. The end result is definitely not a club banger but just nice to listen to and reflect on one of our all time favourite groups – G-A-N-G to the Star son.

Check it our here.

Factor:: Lawson Graham

May 15th, 2010

Our pal Factor just launched a new album.  It’s been a big year for Factor, and things are going well for this man.  Stop by our shop on 8th and pick up a cd or record.

FACTOR :: LAWSON GRAHAM

Canadian producer Factor has been crafting top notch hip hop beats over the last 10 years for a who’s who list of independent hip hop artists including Awol One, Myka 9, Moka Only, Busdriver, Pigeon John, Sole, Aesop Rock – even Xzibit. On his latest solo album, Lawson Graham, Factor puts together a musical ode to his grandfather (who graces the cover) with some of the most melodic and exposed songs of his career. While this album does not escape Factor’s signature crackling, heavy drums and melodic psychedelic samples, Lawson Graham delves even further into an indie pop and folk realm.

Lawson Graham is Factor’s official followup to 2008′s Chandelier – a record that received praise for its beautifully constructed melodic psychedelic hip hop beats and its impressive cast of accompanying emcees. His latest record on Fake Four is an incredibly well executed indie pop and folk driven hip hop release featuring vocal performances from many Fake Four label mates including Gregory Pepper, Sole, Radical Face, Myka 9, Moka Only, Cars & Trains, Ceschi along with Pigeon John, Josh Martinez, 2Mex and many others!

The White Light mixes are, ultimately, about two things: music and space. Music first and foremost, as this series is a showcase of great songs, not tracks – songs and mixes you want to listen over and over again, songs that have depth and staying power, and most importantly songs that mean something to each other.

Secondly, White Light is about space – giving the music room to breathe – not a post-a.d.d. mix of everything trendy that can fit onto a mixtape, but one that’s paced to give each tune its shine, where the music is the focus and the mixing is an effortless complement. Over time I’m sure the criteria will change here and there, but White Light will always be about night driving, introspection and taking the time to listen from start to finish – remember to always look into the light . . .

Now that you know about White Light, head on over to their site here and check out Wax Romeo’s mix.

By the way, you can see Wax Romeo this Saturday at Scratch Club.
