Recently the ski and snowboard community suffered a great loss when freestyle skier Sarah Burke passed away from injuries suffered during a training run. Some say she was the best or one of the best female freestyle skiers, and was one of the main forces behind getting more female freestyle skiing in the Olympics. R.I.P. Sarah Burke.
The second video is a inspirational tale from a snowboarder named Danny, last year he suffered a traumatic brain injury and was kept alive by the help of machines in the hospital. Now, a year later he has recovered and returned to the sport he loves. Truly an amazing story and goes to show that you can not give up, determination makes the difference.
Not safe for work. About a week ago a video popped up on Mark McMorris’ vimeo, which quickly made it to Burton’s news/video section on their website. Come celebrate world snowboard day this Sunday at Table Mountain Regional Park. Giveaways, on hill music, great local riders and more fun. Don’t miss out, more details shown above. It is like christmas a week early!
New at Momentum on 8th is Acapulco Gold, a Brooklyn-based, cheekily-named street wear brand whose graphics merge the nostalgia of New-York iconography with bold lettering and a no-holds-barred frankness to their analogies. Tees, sweaters, and even a few beanies are in, and all have the heavyweight construction you’d expect from a brand founded in the school of hard knocks. Get ‘em before everyone else does!
Acapulco Gold recently put together an Summer 2011 edit of the team and a couple friends. Check it out!
