It’s funny how I was in my car the other day listening to Phoenix’s album, particularly the song Love Like a Sunset, and I thought to myself: “Why hasn’t anyone rapped over this?”.
Some time later, Mickey Factz released this new mixtape which did just that (I think I am psychic) and he didn’t disappoint. While he might have bit Lupe Fiasco on the 2nd track, at least he is rapping over all of these beats I’ve always wanted to see in a Hip Hop light. Dark Phoenix mostly makes use of Phoenix’s music and Mickey surprisingly does it better than one would think.
