What’s this? Another segment similar to “Maestro Knows Mondays!”? The internet really changed things music-wise; you can get music from someone in ‘Sweden’ with a quick click. Point being, there is a ton of music most people are unaware of, especially Canadian music (and foreign). So every Tuesday I’ll upload a new FREE mixtape/album + give it a little summary.
Today’s featured Tape will be Colin Munroe’s: “Colin Munroe is the Unsung Hero”. Straight out of Toronto aka T-DOT, Colin is a young musician who is dexterous with instruments. Creating his own unique sound with sped-up vocals and combining the best of both worlds, Hip-Hop and Pop (? I’m pretty bad with genres haha ?), alongside other guest appearances, he links up fellow Toronto native Drake, Mickey Factz, and Wale. Even though his mixtape is heavy on the features, Colin manages to make it work and create some solo tracks that are worth listening to on their own merit.
Colin first garnered attention on the internet from his cover of Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights” (music video below). Even if you don’t like his cover, his mixtape is worth the download plus he plays all his own instruments, produces for himself, and in case your still hesitant, the Unsung Hero trailer video below includes the intro song off the mixtape.
